Brigade Bar + Kitchen

Part of a unique social enterprise collaboration, Brigade Bar + Kitchen helps Southwark residents at risk of homelessness develop the skills to find employment in hospitality whilst providing a breakfast, lunch and dinner service, 7 days a week.

A new visual identity

We were lucky enough to join Brigade Bar + Kitchen at the start of their huge refurbishment and re-branding project. What’s more, as they didn’t have a dedicated marketing team in-house, we served as an outsourced team and were heavily involved in shaping the brand, website, marketing materials and more.

Working closely with the interior design team responsible for the refurbishment, we started by developing a new logo and brand.

The restaurant itself is situated in an old fire station building, hence the name, but we also liked the idea of the kitchen staff being part of a ‘brigade’. We developed a font-based logo with a supporting badge to be used on marketing materials but also to be used internally as a mark of achievement as the apprentices progress through the ranks of their training.

Simple yet effective web design

In addition to the brand and logo, the team wanted to launch with a new website optimised for the two most important actions for restaurant customers – booking a table and viewing the menus. Ease of use was important for the back end of the website too so we created simple page templates with all the widgets the team need to create and edit content on the site.

Creating content and marketing materials

A visually led website needs some pretty impressive photography to really show it off. We produced shot lists and art directed two photoshoots on location at the Brigade Bar + Kitchen. We also produced essential marketing materials for the restaurant such as menus, branded coasters, a bill receipt and social skins.
