The November low-down

There’s no rest for the wicked so they say! November has been another jam-packed month for the team in and outside of work. Here’s a little overview of what we’ve been up to…

One team, 150 miles, over £1000 raised!

On 18th November, we took part in raising money for BBC Children in Need. We set up an exercise bike in our office and everyone from developers to account managers got involved to reach the ambitious 100-mile mark by the end of the day.

With the bike set up, the camera for our live stream charged and donations rolling in, the motivation was high and at 9 o’clock on the dot big boss Si kicked off our big cycle. While he smashed 12 miles at record speed, the rest of the team started warming up. Next up was Sam who would show everyone that even with skinny sticks as legs (Sam says he hasn’t) you can make a change in the world! We all took our turn on the bike and it was up to Brad to push us over the 100-mile mark. We did it, with hours to spare! But not wanting to quit, we upped the levels and set the distance to 150 miles and started pedalling again.

We even got to speak live on air to Pat and Erika at BBC Radio Kent chatting about our challenge and how we were getting on.

By the end of the day a very sweaty George (we had to put a towel down) pushed us pass the 150-mile mark and our very successful fundraiser for BBC Children in Need came to an end.

Big thank you to all our sponsors and especially to the Tassel Brothers who have been not only been generous with their donation but also let us use their puppy, Lucy to get more donations! We’ve raised a massive total of over £1100, but the fundraising doesn’t end there. Our page is still open for donations till 18th December, so there’s still a chance to support this very special cause.

The team have been out and about this month soaking up the knowledge

One of the design teams favourite graphic designer’s is Aaron Draplin, founder of the Draplin Design Co. We love his logos and outlook on the industry. The team was lucky enough to attend the Adobe Creative Meet Up where they had organised a talk and Q&A session with the bearded wonder himself. We even got to have a picture with him! Adobe have made his talk available on their YouTube channel and it’s well worth a watch.

Steve and George headed up to London Excel to attend Integrated Live, one of the UK’s largest marketing exhibitions. It was great to spend some time listening to the talks and network with other creative and digital agencies. It’s always good to see different experts giving their option on topics from SEO through to user experience.

One of the highlights of the day was the humble and inspirational talk form Lord Bilimoria, founder of Cobra Beer. He spoke of the pain, success and luck he had importing and white labelling an Indian beer and building the household brand ‘Cobra’.

…and the rest

Big boss Si has been out and about reliving his youth shooting nostalgic pictures at Indie gigs, check out his blog for the full low-down. Our new website has been featured on various design sites including CSS Design Awards and we’re super proud that GF Smith and Colorplan included our new stationery suite on their recent blog posts.

With Christmas just around the corner it’s almost time to put the tree up, whack on those festive tunes (ours will be hitting the site real soon), open the mince pies and get your Christmas jumpers ready!
