Pioneer Veterinary Products
Pioneer Veterinary Products is a specialist supplier to veterinary hospitals and surgeries. They provide a quality service to customers with a bespoke ordering system, next day delivery as standard and as they’re a family run business, everything is done with a personal touch.
Time for an upgrade
We wanted to upgrade the feel of the new catalogue so that the design better represented the quality service provided by the team. However, the Pioneer brand is already known in the industry so we kept the look similar to the previous cover, but enhanced certain elements such as using a silver metallic Pantone to give the catalogue a high-end finish which was still in keeping with the brand identity that customers would be familiar with.
For a stand out front cover, we sourced a rights managed image which means the photograph belong to Pioneer alone and can’t be used by anyone else for a certain amount of time. This prevents the image being associated to another brand or being used on similar products which might lead to confusion as customers start to associate the image with the Pioneer brand.
An intuitive layout
The catalogue itself is a compact size at 210 x 210mm, so in total, it stacked up to 400 pages. With so many products and ranges to choose from, it was integral that we created an intuitive layout for the catalogue. We introduced a secondary colour palette to sit alongside the brand colour and assigned each of the ten product categories its own colour – making sure each one was easily distinguishable from the other. We also created icons and used a tabbed format so that customers can flick between sections and products from any point in the catalogue.
Building the brand
Alongside our work on the catalogue, we designed a simple brand guidelines document for the Pioneer team to use across other sales and marketing materials so that they could ensure consistency and start really creating a recognisable brand identity.
Although correspondence is a part of our day to day interaction with customers, we often forget that this is channel which needs branding too. The Pioneer team however recognised the benefit of having some branded letterhead paper to further ensure consistency and communication of the brand to its customers and suppliers.
