iMET

Developing the design blueprint for a bespoke facility for manufacturing, engineering and technology in Alconbury Weald.

iMET: Breaking the mould

iMET was born back in 2012 from an identified need to deliver advanced technical skills training in manufacturing, engineering and technology, iMET offers an answer to the industry’s skills gap and the UK’s much publicised decline in productivity.

Funded by Growth Funds through the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Local Enterprise Partnership (GCGPLEP), iMET demonstrates that innovative local initiatives can also meet the national agenda on skills, delivering positive results for UK plc.

Following on from an intensive pitch process, we were awarded the project and tasked with producing a full marketing strategy to launch iMET as a national brand.

Developing the design blueprint

Our first task was to get under the skin of iMET and everything it stands for. We’ve worked closely with a number of key stakeholders to achieve this, facilitating workshops with local councils and authorities to ensure we establish a clear foundation to work from.

Creating a plan

Our communications plan has been developed in collaboration with Built For, our Strategic Marketing partner, from research of the target audience, key objectives and deliverables to achieve those targets. The delivery of the plan is now well underway, creating a new brand and materials that will launch iMET as a regional and national brand.

More than just a building

As specialists in creating environments for Education and Advanced Manufacturing, Bond Bryan were chosen as the architects to design the iMET building. The design merges traditional teaching spaces, specialist workshops, laboratories as well as collaborative work environments into this two storey building. They created CGI videos and photography, as well as a walk through to really bring their ideas to life. You can read more about the design of the building on Bond Bryan’s website.

All CGI’s are created by Bond Bryan Architects
The Hideout

The Hideout has been actively involved with the development and introduction of the iMET brand from a very early stage. We have been very impressed by their design contribution, marketing initiatives and website development from that point to date.
