Happy New Year! Hope you had a good Christmas and suitably stuffed your faces with all sorts of food and drink. December is always a busy time of year for us so we’ve got lots to tell you to help keep those post holiday blues at bay!
Continuing to support the KEiBA Awards…
This month sees KEiBA 2017 open for entries! We’re very proud to continue our partnership with them this year. We’ve supported the Kent Excellence in Business awards since it started 9 years ago, working with the team on 2 iterations of the website, along with annual updates to tie in with the new colour palette.
Over the years we’ve seen start-ups grow into successful local businesses, worked alongside many winners and runner ups and enjoyed a glass (or two) of bubbles on the big night. We look forward to continue supporting local businesses and are excited to see the nominations for this year.
The Hideout Christmas Party
This year we thought we’d try something different for our Christmas Party. Si got his chauffeurs hat on and we all jumped in a mini-bus up to Bounce in London!
Bounce, is ‘the home of ping pong’ and is basically a bar with a load of ping pong tables! It was a chance for the whole team to get their game face on and see what pairing would be the ping pong champions. After a round robin of games, the final was set, Rory and Amanda vs Brad and George. It was a tense game, but eventually taking the championship was Brad and George, 11-7.
#TeamHideout take over OneMinuteBriefs
Earlier this year, John won ‘Ombles Omble of the year’ and this month was asked by Nick of OneMinuteBriefs to do a #teamhideout takeover. We jumped at the chance! For those not in the know, OMB is a daily creative workout where a fictional brief is released everyday and people from around the world create a quick ad in response to it. You can read more about why we take part in OMB in our blog.
Each day a different member of the team set a brief and we waited for the responses to flood in. The 5 briefs from Monday to Friday were; #CatNip, #Sauerkraut, #MincePies, #Haggis and finally advertise #AnOmble (an Omble is the name given to someone who takes part in OneMinuteBriefs). There were some great adverts over the week and a few of our favourite are posted below. It was a great chance to see how OMB is run day-to-day and really showed the massive effort that is put into keeping this community going! Plus we got to experience the ridiculous drain on our phone batteries with all the notifications! Nick we salute you!
Another month, another certificate!
We were lucky enough to get another certificate this month! The senior and jury members of the Awwwards community gave us an ‘Honourable Mention’ for our new website! Awwwards is seen as one of the most high profile website design and development platforms and we’re humbled to have been recognised by the community!
We took on a Winter Olympic Sport Challenge
You’ve probably seen it on the telly. That strange sport where people hurl stones down an ice rink towards a target and start sweeping to make it go further. Curling! Fenton Ice Rink near Tunbridge Wells is England’s only dedicated Ice Curling Rink. Well we decided to take it on with Built for Marketing. A boys vs girls match with the winners taking home the most important prize… pride.
We were trained on techniques and how to play and then we were off. The game is more difficult than it looks with only the slightest of differences between pushing it too far or not enough. With a tense game with the girls 2-1 going into the final. The boys snatched it with 2 points from the last 2 throws. 3-2 the final result.
…and the rest
In the run up to the big feast Sam has been out on location at Fosse Bank Independent School to add to their image library, he even got to try out their new yurt! We shot some video footage at Maidstone Museum and are very excited to be working with two new clients… watch this space!
We’ve got a cracking playlist for you to kick start 2017! Let’s do this!
