The October low-down

The new brand

Time flies when you’re having fun and that’s definitely been the case for us this October. We started the month celebrating the launch of our new brand and website. Being four years old in November we felt it was time to give ourselves a refresh and have an opportunity to update all of our materials. A few late nights, takeaways and copious amounts of coffee later our new Hideout was reborn. Frauke even baked a Hideout cake. Three tiers with three flavours, Mary Berry eat your heart out! Give the video a watch and read the full story here.

The joy of VR

After the launch celebrations, George and I headed out to the Kent Construction Expo and demoed Samsung VR headsets. Gone are the days of wearing your red and blue 3D glasses in front of a blurry screen. We all had a go in the studio and were blown away with how great the headsets were, with Keith even shouting ‘Get me back in there!’ like it was something from the movie Tron! We were rushed off our feet with visitors queuing to experience their first taste of VR. We’ll have more news coming soon on how we can help you produce VR videos as a key marketing tool creating exciting and interactive content.

OMB Live 3

With all that hard work, we also had a little time to let our hair down at the OneMinuteBrief’s Live in Manchester. OMB is a creative workout on Twitter where a fictional brief is released daily enabling you to flex your creative muscles and quite literally produce an idea within a minute (or thereabouts). The night included talks from various people within the creative industry and a round up of the incredible work that has been produced and turned into real life projects, and of course the famous live tournament.

The tournament is a creative vs creative showdown to see who can come up with the best idea within a minute. When the timer starts, that’s when the pressure really starts to mount. You’re literally racking your brains to come up with the wittiest tagline or anything at all so you’re not left with a blank piece of paper. Sam and John made it to the semi-finals with their quick thinking advertising puns and John even picked up an award for Omble’s Omble of the year voted for by the community! OMB has become part of our everyday life here, read more about how it’s helped us this year.

…and the rest

But that’s not all; George undertook a Duathlon at Chilham Castle where he placed 28th out of 150, Si drove a Formula Ford racing car and our new website has been recognised by a number of awards sites including CSSWinner and BestCSSAward.

November is set to be just as busy, new case studies will be hitting the site soon and some exciting news on our chosen charity we’ll be supporting this year.
