Meet the team: Steve

Steve is a Maidstone lad born and bred who likes to work hard and play hard. You may not think it when you look at him it, but he is an exceptional draughts player and even better dad dancer. Ask him to strut his stuff next time you see him. He loves a good old kick about whether it’s for real or on the computer. Although if he plays anything like he does on Fifa, I fear for everyone’s legs. Wear your shin pads, he’s a red card waiting to happen.

The Hideout

What’s your job?

Digital Project Manager.

So what do you actually do everyday?

Everyday is different for me, which is why I love my role. You could find me plugged in working on wireframes, a website feature list or specification document, to hosting client discovery meetings or scoping projects with our design and dev teams. At the end of the day it’s my job to ensure projects are delivered to the agreed scope, on time and on budget.

Give us a song that describes you?

Playing with the boys – Kenny Loggins (You can’t beat Top Gun, great film, great soundtrack!).

What keeps you motivated?

Football, family (including Nancy), friends and coffee.

Tell us your favourites: music, TV shows, films?

I couldn’t tell you my favourite type of music, I like a lot of genres, although I do love a good ‘songs from the movies’ playlist… check out mine on Spotify. My singing in the office often keeps everyone entertained, Si and George love hearing me belt out a bit of Blue on Throwback Thursdays!

We watch a lot films in my house, but my all-time favourites would have to be Forest Gump or Stand By Me. But then I forget about Lord of the Rings and The Goonies… too hard to pick.

Favourite TV show, that’s an easy one… Only Fools and Horses… if there’s nothing on the box switch to UK Gold and watch a couple of episodes… “terrific Rodney!”.

What are your most recent discoveries? Any tv-shows, podcasts, blogs or books we should be keeping our eyes on?

Top of the discovery list would have to be coffee. I dodged it for so many years but decided to join the club back in August last year and haven’t looked back.

You’ve got a time machine, where would you go first?

I’d love to go back and experience the 50’s and 60’s in America, to have an opportunity to see and hear the likes of Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin and the Supremes live would be amazing.

Tell us something you wish clients knew?

Less is more, sit back and think if the feature you’re requesting is actually going to benefit your visitors.

Team of choice?

Man Utd, living in the south of England it was the only team I could choose right?!

What is one guilty pleasure you enjoy too much to give up?

WWE, if I’m flicking through Sky Sports and see it on I have to watch it (obviously when the wife’s not around). It’s not quite the same these days as it was back in the Attitude Era, with The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin clashing every other week, but it’s still watchable.

“If you smmmeeeelllll…….what the rock……. Is……… cooking!!!”.

The Hideout

Your best impression?

Personally I feel I do a pretty good impression of Derek from Derek.

What’s your earliest creative memory?

Let me take you back to 1990… Year 3… Mrs Judd’s class. Whilst the creative juices were lacking I took inspiration from my class mate and best friend Nick’s design… make everything stand out I thought… and from that point most of my drawings (or attempts) were ruined by a thick black outline. At the time I thought they looked good, but what did I know! These days I leave the creative stuff to our design team.

Cats or dogs?

Dogs all day long, can’t be doing with cats (sorry Sarah) and have you seen my Nancy booboos!

What do you wish you had known 5 years ago?

That buying an MG was a bad idea.

The Hideout

What are the 3 things you’d take to a desert island and why?

My dog, man’s best friend and hunting companion (yeah right), fishing line and some hooks.

If you had a tagline, what would it be?

Don’t Tempt Me.

If you could give the people reading one piece of advice, what would it be?

Anthony Joshua will KO Wladimir Klitschko within 6-8 rounds… Keith get your bet on! …April 29th don’t miss it.
